Normale is a graphic research of the Finnish natural landscape and its materiality, investigating the translation from physical to digital, and backwards.
A developing collection of low/side glass tables digitally printed with normal mapping textures*. The maps are generated from materials typical of the Finnish landscape, photographed and post-processed into a digital image which simulate their materiality, then transposed on solid, smooth, shiny extra-clear glass. Like a screen.
*In 3D computer graphics, normal mapping is a technique used for faking the lighting of bumps and dents. It is used to add details without adding complexity to the used geometry.
Normale has been exhibited ad Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2019 in the young talents section Greenhouse.
